Concert Band
This course is open to all students through auditions held in the spring by the Director of Bands or his designee(s), or by successful completion of Beginning Band, or by the recommendation of a rising ninth grade student’s middle school band instructor.
The Concert Band presents a balanced study of literature at the highest level and quality attainable by the ensemble. The Concert Band will present winter and spring concerts and, depending on appropriate instrumentation, participate in Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) / Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA) assessment, events, and festivals.
Membership in this ensemble requires practice, rehearsals, and performances outside of the school day as an extension of the classroom activity. Concert Band members are encouraged to be members of the Marching Atoms.
