Graduation is Almost Here!

Annandale Seniors and Families:

We are less than a month away from graduation and wanted to provide you with important information that will assist you in preparing and planning for the end of the school year.

First, we have created a “Senior Page” on the AHS Student Portal to keep you posted on the latest senior activities and graduation. It will be updated if/when we receive new information. Note: You must be signed in to your FCPS Google account to access the Student Portal. In addition, we have also posted this information on the school website for your parents to access.

Below are tasks that need to be completed as soon as possible, important dates with descriptions of the event, additional opportunities related to the end of the year activities and a senior calendar.

Things To Do NOW

Senior Questionnaire - All seniors are required to complete the Graduation Questionnaire. You must complete this form by COB May 10.

Senior Dues - We recently uploaded senior dues of $50 into Please log on to pay your senior dues by May 10. When you pay via, be sure to enter your height in the appropriate field for gown measurements for graduation. Senior Student Services Survey - Each year, every senior meets with the Career Center Specialist to complete their Senior Survey. This is how Student Services sends the final transcript to the college that student is attending. If a student is pursuing employment, military service, career education, a year off, etc., this is how we find out to celebrate their achievement. This also includes the outcomes for each college seniors applied to, which supplies data to the Naviance scattergrams for future student benchmarking.

Because we are unable to meet with each senior, we are providing instructions to complete this task from home (directions linked below). This is required for every senior to complete by May 17. Clear Obligations - All obligations including textbooks, chargers, calculators, technology or course fees and senior dues must be paid before you can participate in Graduation.

Lost Textbooks, Laptops, Chargers and Calculators

  • Sign into My School Bucks or create an account if you don’t already have one.
  • Click on “School Store”, then click on “Browse all items”.
  • Scroll through the pages until you see the item “Lost/Damaged Textbooks" or “Laptop/Charger/Calculator”

Obligations for Course Fees or the FCPSon Technology Fee.

  • Click on “School Store”, then click on “School Invoices”

Senior Dues

  • Click on “School Store”, then click on “Browse all items”.
  • Scroll through the pages until you see the item “Senior Dues"

If you don’t see any items in the school store, you need to attach your ID number to your account.

  • Go to the account menu, click on “Add Student” or “My Student”.

  • Fill out the form with your name and ID number. Your name must be entered exactly as it appears in SIS.

  • Once you have added yourself to the account go back to the school store.

Senior Exams - May 18-21: Senior Exams will be held on May 18-21. See below for the senior exam schedule:


Important Dates

Senior Laptop Collection, May 21 and 24: Senior laptops will be collected on Friday, May 21 after the last senior exam. Once students have turned in their laptop, they are dismissed from school. Virtual students can turn in their laptop on Monday, May 24 from 12:00-4:00pm.

Senior Obligations - May 24, 12:00-4:00pm: Seniors recently received an email alerting them of any financial obligation. Financial obligations can be paid online via, by using the myschoolbucks mobile app, or in person on May 24 from 12:00-4:00pm. Cap and Gown Distribution - May 24, 12:00-4:00pm: Students will have the opportunity to pick up their cap and gown and senior gift on Monday, May 24. In order to receive a cap and gown, students must have returned all items and paid all obligations.

To comply with social distancing guidelines and make this a safe event for our Seniors and our staff, please arrive to the school during the time designated for your student’s last name:

  • 12:00-2:00pm - Last names A-L

  • 2:00-4:00pm - Last names M-Z

Graduation Rehearsal - May 25, 10-12pm or 12-2pm: Seniors who choose to participate in the Graduation Ceremony must attend graduation rehearsal. To comply with social distancing guidelines and make this a safe event for our Seniors and our staff, please arrive to the school during the time designated for your student’s last name:

  • 10:00-12:00pm - Last names A-L

  • 12:00-2:00pm - Last names M-Z

Cap and Gown Photo Op - May 26-28: Seniors will have the opportunity to take pictures with their families in front of the school in their cap and gown prior to graduation! To ensure proper social distancing, please sign up for a 20 minute time slot here.

Senior End of the Year Celebration - May 26, 7:00-11:00pm: Annandale High School and the Annandale PTSA have joined forces to host a special Senior End of the Year Celebration for the Class of 2021. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 26 from 7:00-11:00pm. Stay tuned for more information.

Senior Reflections Due May 20: Virtual Ceremony May 25, 7:00pm: The PTSA will be hosting Senior Reflections virtually on May 25 at 7:00pm. Students are encouraged to submit your reflections of high school via FlipGrid by May 20 to be included in the ceremony.

Students can sing a song, perform a dance, play a musical instrument, read a poem or an inspirational reading, or share your personal story. You can create and explain a sculpture, painting, photograph or other artwork. Works may be student composed or not. If it moves you, share it! The reflections may be presented in groups with other AHS seniors or presented solo. Link:


Senior Awards Ceremony - May 28: The Senior Awards Ceremony will be pre-recorded again this year and will be released on or before May 28. Check it out last year’s ceremony here!

Graduation Ceremony - June 1 (Rain Date June 2): We are excited that this year’s graduation ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 1 at 9:00am at Annandale High School on our stadium field! Students should arrive by 7:30am. All ticketed guests must arrive by 8:20am and in their seats by 8:55am. The ceremony will begin at 9:00am.

Tickets - Due to updated guidance from Governor Northam regarding capacity as special events, we are now able to issue three tickets to each student. Additional information coming soon.

Parking - Students should park at First Presbyterian Church of Annandale in the morning, entering the stadium through the back gate. Handicapped parking is available in the back parking lot by the concession stand. There is limited parking available on school grounds. Guest parking is available on Four Year Run, Ossian Park, in the adjacent neighborhood, and at our adjacent churches.

Expectations and Dress Code - It is Annandale High School’s tradition to treat our graduation as a formal ceremony. By doing so we ensure that every student receives the respect and acclaim he or she has earned. Thus, formal attire is required for graduation.

  • Formal attire
    • Includes dresses, a suit or dress slacks with a collared shirt, and appropriate shoes.
    • No high heels will be permitted as it may puncture the turf field.
  • The tassel is the only thing to be worn on the cap, and nothing is to be attached to the gown (e.g. flowers, messages, etc.).
  • No objects should be carried onto the stage.
  • Inappropriate behavior anytime during the ceremony, will result in the immediate removal of the student from the event. Any student removed from graduation will be issued their diploma at a later date, pending an appointment with their administrator.

Photos - Lifetouch will take photos of each graduate as they receive their diploma and when they immediately come off stage. These photos will be available for purchase at Contact Cindy Hook at or 703-927-1184 with questions.
