They are the featured performers who dance, spin flags and rifles, and add other visual effects to the marching show. Improving school climate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) students in our schools: According to GLSEN’s 2009 National School Climate Survey, the presence of a GSA in a school was directly related to more positive experiences for LGBTQQ students, hearing fewer homophobic remarks, missing school less because of safety concerns, less harassment due to one’s real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity/expression, and a greater sense of belonging at school.
